The Golden Mile
Beachfront estates between Marbella and Puerto Banús
€4M to €30M

Quiet hillside streets just above the Golden Mile
Asking prices for detached villas, autumn 2026, editorial estimate; the larger plots with open sea views sit at the top of the range. Drives outside rush hour.
Nagüeles is where the Golden Mile goes quiet. North of the A-7 the streets climb through gardens towards Sierra Blanca and La Concha, and the higher you go, the wider the sea view becomes. It is a residential area first, with the beach, the hotels and the town still only minutes away.
Nagüeles covers the slope between the Golden Mile and the mountains, around the valley of the Nagüeles river. It works as the residential hinterland of the strip below: houses behind hedges and gates, little through traffic, and a pace set by residents rather than visitors.
Lomas del Marbella Club, a name you will meet often in listings, is part of the area. Above it the land rises towards Sierra Blanca and La Concha, so Nagüeles sits between the beach life below and the gated estates higher up.
Plots typically measure 1,200 to 4,000 m², enough for a garden, a pool and real distance from the neighbours. The housing is mixed: older villas in a traditional Andalusian style stand alongside houses rebuilt in a contemporary manner.
Height matters more than anything here. The lower streets are closer to the beach and the Golden Mile, while the upper plots trade a little convenience for open views over the sea. A slope also shapes the house itself, with levels, retaining walls and steps, so look at how the terraces catch the light; our guide to orientation, light and terraces explains what to look for.

From the lower streets the Golden Mile is within walking distance, and from the upper ones it is a very short drive. Outside rush hour, the old town is about 6 minutes by car, Puerto Banús about 8 and Málaga airport about 45.
Day to day you will drive for most errands, because the area is almost entirely residential. Golf in Nueva Andalucía is a short drive west, and Aloha College there and Swans International School in Marbella are both within reach for families. In the evening the hotels and restaurants of the Golden Mile are minutes away, yet the streets at home stay quiet.
Typical asking prices for detached villas run from about €3M to €15M in autumn 2026, and the larger plots with open sea views sit at the top of the range. These are indicative ranges, not valuations.
View, plot size and the state of the house account for most of the spread. A villa with an unobstructed sea view from the main living floor asks far more than a similar house that looks into a neighbour's garden. Access matters too: a steep, narrow drive can weigh on the price, and so can a house that needs a full renovation. To set Nagüeles against its neighbours, use the neighbourhood comparison.

Nagüeles suits renters who want space and quiet without giving up the beach. For long stays, the residential feel and short drives to schools are the draw; for holidays, the views and the closeness of the Golden Mile carry the appeal. If you want to stay a season or longer, see our guide to long-term villa rental.
Letting to holidaymakers requires registration as a vivienda con fines turísticos (VFT) in the Andalusian tourism register and an entry in the national rental register, which has applied since 1 July 2025. Where a house sits within a community of owners, a new tourist rental has needed approval by three fifths of the owners since April 2025.
On a slope, check the structure as carefully as the paperwork: retaining walls, drainage around the terraces and pools built into the hillside. For a newer house, Spain's LOE warranties cover the structure for 10 years, habitability for 3 and finishing for 1; for an older one, an independent building survey matters more.
As everywhere in Marbella, the 1986 general plan still applies while a new one is prepared, so confirm that extensions, pools and outbuildings were licensed. Houses that are irregular but past the enforcement deadline may hold AFO status, which limits what you can do with them later.
Nagüeles suits you if you want a quieter, residential base with the Golden Mile close by, and a sea view if you can buy high enough. It works well for families and for owners who live here for much of the year. It suits you less if you want to walk out of the garden onto the sand, or if you want a gated estate with controlled access; for that, look further up the hill.
It is usually treated as its own area: the hillside directly north of the Golden Mile, rising towards Sierra Blanca. The names are often used loosely in listings, so check where a house actually sits on the map. From the lower streets you can walk down to the Golden Mile.
Many of the higher plots do, and the larger plots with open sea views sit at the top of the price range. Lower down, trees and neighbouring houses often limit the view. Visit at the time of day you would use the terrace most.
Puerto Banús is about 8 minutes by car outside rush hour, the old town about 6 and Málaga airport about 45. Allow more time in high summer, when traffic on the coast builds.
It is one of the more family-friendly addresses near the Golden Mile, with residential streets, sizeable gardens and short drives to the beach and town. Aloha College in Nueva Andalucía and Swans International School in Marbella are both within reach by car. Plan on driving for school runs and errands.
